Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

1. When will more figurines be in stock???

My original figurine collections often sell out in only a few minutes !

ALL of my Funguise figurines are hand-sculpted AND hand-painted!! This method gives them their unique look and I love the process. However, that means they take SEVERAL WEEKS to make!

I am the sole artist behind WkdWest, so unfortunately, some months I have to shift my to focus to other aspects of my small business, including all the admin/social media/marketing/development ETC… Which leaves only so many hours every month for actual sculpting.

You can follow my Instagram or Twitch.tv Channel where I sometimes share behind the scenes peeks.

2. Do you make custom orders?

As of January 1, 2022 - I am no longer taking custom orders!

3. Can I reserve a figurine you posted?

I do not allow “reservations” — it’s a free for all battle (may the odds be in your favor!)

I think part of the fun of buying from a small artist is the frenzy of trying to score a specific piece. Yes it’s a bummer when you miss out, but it’s even more satisfying when you succeed - it feels like DESTINY!!!

4. Do you offer payment plans?

I am also not offering any sort of payment plans - and do not plan to offer any in the future. :(

5. Do you ever have sales or offer discounts?

Yes!

By signing up to my email-newsletter you will receive dates and times as well as reminders for all my figurine collections, sticker drops, merch shop updates - and occasionally bonus coupons!

By following me on social media you might see any sales I offer throughout the year.

6. Do you sell your work in person at local markets, artist alleys or other events?

Yes! I have attended a few conventions and markets over the years.

If COVID ever calms down, I would love to attend more in the future :)

You can expect updates from my social medias so be sure to follow and subscribe to my e-mail newsletter

7. Do you sell your sculptures in any galleries or through brick-and-mortar retailers?

Yes! And there is a list of my current connections located HERE.

8. Are Funguise figurines suitable for my outdoor or indoor gardens?

At this time, the materials I work in are not recommend for outdoor decoration or indoor areas with prolonged exposure to moisture or sunlight!

I've run some tests and harsh, direct sunlight may damage the colors over an extended period of years and constant moisture will eventually eat through the water-based varnish. But if they are protected from this direct exposure, they will be fine. :)

9. What do I do if my figurine breaks?

In most cases, repairs to broken figurines can be done with super glue. I might be able to offer more advice for your specific situation. Feel free to contact me.

If your figurine arrives broken, we can negotiate an appropriate response based on the situation. Otherwise, I do not offer refunds, so please treat your figurines with proper care to ensure their longevity.

10. What materials do you use?

My original figurines are all sculpted out of polymer clay and painted with mixed brand acrylics. I use water-based polyurethane to varnish and protect the paint. Some of them have armatures made of wire and tin foil. Occasionally I work with epoxy clay for thin or fine details.

BUT I also make products with resin, fabric, watercolor, etc...

So please read the full product descriptions for the exact material details of each listing.

11. I want to learn how to make art like this! Will you teach me?

I share my process in a variety of places. In addition to the occasional process video I post on Instagram, and the detailed blogs I write on my Patreon, you can actually watch me work LIVE in REAL-TIME on my Twitch.tv channel!!

Although my live streams are not intended as follow-along tutorials, I'm happy to talk with my viewers about art, life, business, and I don't mind explaining why or what I am doing as I'm doing it. Come hang out with us sometime!

12. How do you price your work?

Firstly, every artist has a different method for this. And if I’m being honest, pricing art can be a little bit ambiguous. But at the very core of my prices I account for the materials invested, the time to make and market an item, and the level of skill involved in all of my techniques. Sometimes that means you’re paying for time I’ve invested over years of experimenting to develop my unique style!

So if my original pieces are out of your budget, I highly reccomend looking at what handpainted resin pieces I am offering or perhaps what printed merch options are in stock! I work hard to provide an inventory with a wide range of price points for all shoppers.

13. Can I make and/or sell Funguise fanart?

I encourage Funguise fanart (in all mediums) but I have a few requests:

  • Please link back to me @WkdWest on any social media platform that you share your artwork on! This is not only to give me proper acknowledgement but I also really want to see it!!

  • BUT PLEASE DO NOT SELL ANY FUNGUISE FANART. It is harmful to my small business to profit on my specific designs. When necessary, I will enforce my trademark and copyrights through legal action.

Thank you for respecting these requests, and I can't wait to see what you make!

14. Why do you add ™/® to your listings???
